Goodbye, all-liquid diets!

At the six month doctor’s appointment, our pediatrician suggested we start solids. We were going to wait until they were six months gestationally — which would be about a month from now; from everything I’ve read, there’s really no need to rush the introduction of solids. But both of them have been maxing out their formula intake at about 30-32 ounces a day, which is the top limit of what they’re supposed to have, and still acting hungry, so it seemed like it might be a good time to start.

We started out with sweet potatoes, squash, and pears. I know we’re supposed to introduce things one at a time, but I’m guilty of being eager to see what they were going to think of each taste, so we broke that rule — luckily, neither are showing any signs of allergies so far.

True to form, they are completely different in their receptions to solids. Jack LOVED it, almost immediately. Here’s a video of his very first taste:
